The year was 1955 and homes throughout Italy were marvelling at the first industrial gelato in a family-size container, which took the form of a metal jar and went by the name of Sammontana Barattolino. Since that time, Barattolino has never looked back, becoming an iconic part of Italy’s gelato story as it continues to move with the times, staying relevant but without ever compromising its authenticity.

NEW RECYCLABLE PACKAGING

The big news is that the tub and lid are now in certified eco-friendly cardboard that is 100% recyclable! Yet, while Barattolino may be sporting new packaging, the taste is still that of authentic Italian gelato. With FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification, a global recognition of a supply chain that respects our forests, Barattolino represents our legendary goodness, created through passion, commitment and care for the environment.
